Alberta Rocky Mountains at golden hour

Our Story

Born from a Love of the Land

Alberta's wild landscape has always inspired great things. We set out to map the distilleries that bottle its spirit — and share them with the world.

How it started

A Road Trip That Became a Movement

It started with a long weekend, a borrowed truck, and a hand-drawn map of every craft distillery we could find between Calgary and the Rockies. What we discovered wasn't just great whisky — it was a community of makers quietly doing extraordinary work.

We came home and couldn't stop talking about it. So we built a website. Then we drove the route again, this time with a camera. Then again with a notebook. The Alberta Whisky Trail grew from those trips — a living guide to the people, places, and pours that make this province worth exploring.

Today the trail spans over a dozen distilleries across four regions, from the foothills of the Rockies to the heart of Edmonton. Every listing is visited in person. Every tasting note is earned.

What drives us

Our Mission

To celebrate Alberta's craft distillers by connecting curious travellers with the makers, the stories, and the spirits that define this province.

Authentic Discovery

Every distillery on the trail has been visited in person. We don't list what we haven't experienced.

Local First

Alberta grain, Alberta water, Alberta ingenuity. We champion producers who root their craft in this place.

Community Built

The trail grows through relationships — with distillers, travellers, and everyone who shares a dram and a story.

Honest Curation

We write what we taste. No paid placements, no sponsored rankings — just our genuine experience of each pour.

Come Find Your Pour

The trail is best experienced in person. Plan your route, pick your distilleries, and let Alberta surprise you.
